New Chambers - Douglas Menzies Chambers, Melbourne

I have taken chambers in Douglas Menzies Chambers, Level 6, Room 601, 180 William Street, Melbourne (adjacent to the Supreme Court of Victoria).

I first signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 2007 (see VicBar Profile). I accept briefs from Victorian solicitors, corporate and government counsel, and insurers, to advise and appear in my areas of expertise, in particular regulatory enforcement proceedings in the Victorian Registry of the Federal Court of Australia.

I also accept appointments as an Arbitrator and Mediator in Melbourne. The Victorian Bar Mediation Centre is located on Level 3 of Douglas Menzies Chambers.

Appointment - Adjunct Associate Professor, University of New South Wales

I have accepted an appointment as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales.

I was previously an Adjunct Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Executive MBA Course at the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Admission - Singapore International Commercial Court

I have been admitted as a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Singapore International Commercial Court.

Admission - Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

I have been admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

I was delighted to receive 100% in the International Commercial Arbitration Award Writing Examination conducted by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (North American Branch) held in Washington DC in July 2015. 

Appointment - Senior Counsel for the State of New South Wales

I am delighted to announce my appointment as a Senior Counsel for the State of New South Wales.

Among other new silks is Dominique Hogan-Doran, a commercial and alternative dispute resolution barrister who co-authored the bar’s sexual harassment policy and said that she was “honoured to be joining the ranks of commercial silks”.

Sydney Morning Herald report:

“It brings the total number of silks in the state to 392, of which 9.95 per cent or 39 are women. Of the 2324 barristers in the state, 497 or 21.4 per cent are women.

The new appointments include Sydney barrister Dominique Hogan-Doran, a past president of Australian Women Lawyers and a co-author of the Bar Association’s inaugural sexual harassment policy. A commercial barrister, Ms Hogan-Doran was one of the counsel who appeared for Senator Arthur Sinodinos at the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption. …”

Recognition - Woman of the Year Finalist, Australian Women in Financial Services Awards

I am delighted to have been recognised as a finalist in the inaugural Money Management and Superannuation Review Women in Financial Services "Woman of the Year' Award. I am the only lawyer recognised amongst the finalists.
